THE STORY FACTORY

True Stories From The
Early Days Of The
Anamosa Penitentiary

The limestone citadel at Anamosa has been standing watch over the Iowa prairie for over 150 years.  The gates have opened and closed on tens of thousands of souls, both the keepers and the kept.  Each of them had a story.  Bravery and cowardice.  Depravity and nobility.  Loss and redemption.  Hatred and love.  Regret and defiance.  Crime and punishment.  All present in abundant measure in this 13-acre place.

The following are audio podcasts recounting stories from the prison's past.
